My Haiku Poem

Walt: Identify syllables
SC: Write a haiku poem about softball

I tried out soft ball
Head down, bat up and hit hard
Made it to first base

Time to change around
Tried to catch the ball, failed

Second time success

Shopping for healthy muesli bars? Check this out if you want to know!

How could you choose the right muesli bar? When you buy a box of muesli bar from the super market, always check the labels. Always check the energy, protein, sugar and fibre to see if it is less or high. It is good to check it every time because muesli bars could be healthy or unhealthy. What I learnt from this muesli bar template is that you should always check the labels before you buy it.

Explanation Writing - Why is it important to have 8 hours of sleep?

I wonder why do we need 8 hours of sleep?
We need 8 hours of sleep because it gives your body a rest and it allows it to prepare for the next day. It is just like giving your body a mini-vacation or a break. Sleep also gives time for your brain to sort things out. Your brain can store a lot of information for the next day. During your sleep hours, the technic of your body changes around.

What happens if you don’t get a sleep?
Did you know skipping 1 night’s sleep makes a person cranky and clumsy. If you keep skipping nights without a sleep, your brain would have problems with thinking and doing things. His/her body and brain can’t do normal or daily tasks. Yet people do not get enough sleep and many suffer from lack of sleep.

Why do we need to sleep?
Some people need 8 hours of sleep. Other exist on four. We need to sleep because we might eat more and more during night. If you eat more at night, you’re gonna have trouble with your breathing. It is good to sleep around 8:00pm or 9:00pm. People might not like to sleep between those time because they want to watch tv or eat. Sleep is very important to us because our body and brains gets a rest and sets information for the next day.

Dear Mr Tamati

Kia Ora. I am writing this to say thank you for coming to Glenbrae School to talk to year about your career and how we could be like you .

What was interesting to me was when you talked about how you had a part time and that you wanted to be a builder. During the lesson you showed us about how you plan things like, where should it be build, the cost of it and other sort of things. Listening to you helped me because it gave me ideas about what you do  in a construction and helped me think about my future.

I really appreciate you giving up your time to come to Glenbrae School about career. Thank you very much.

Your sincerely

Dear Mrs Ripata

Malo E Lelei. I’m writing to say thank you for speaking to us about your family and your life.

It was a pleasure to hear you share your story. I found it really interesting when you talked about, every morning you would go to school with no lunch and you would ask your friends for money so you could buy you lunch. The other interesting thing I learned was that your mum would weave mats and sell them to people for money and your dad would work and sell things. I remembered when you said your life was hard because it was hard to get money and your family was so poor.

I really appreciate you giving your time to speak to year ⅞ about your life and your experience.

Yours sincerely

Mr Dunn - Thank You Letter

This thank you letter is for Mr Dunn and his ex-student from Tamaki College because they came to talk about Tamaki College and their experience there.

Mr Dunn
Deputy Principal
Tamaki College

Dear Mr Dunn

Malo E Lelei. I am writing this to say a big thank you for coming to Glenbrae School with the other 4 other ex-students. When you told us how Tamaki College is an amazing school, I wanted to enrol there but I have already enrolled at three other schools.

Listening to the ex-students was very helpful for me. Learning about college and what they are doing at Tamaki College is very helpful. The part that I enjoyed listening to was when they talked about their trip to Wellington for a science fair.

Before you left with the ex-students during morning tea, I thought to myself, if I don’t get accepted to these three schools I will enrol to Tamaki College. I am scared because if I enrol, you might get very angry. Hahahaha! Once again thank very very much for coming.

Your sincerely

Edwina

Today we were learning how to solve a logic puzzle. From this logic puzzle I learn that Alisha spent $4.25 on parsnips, Kathryn spent $5.25 on kale, Leo spent $6.25 on onions and Olive spent $7.25 on rhubarb. I hope that we to continue learning logic puzzle.
