Farewell wordle.

On Tuesday the 11th of December we had a farewell assembly. It was for my teacher, the deputy principal. Her name is Mrs Boyer. It was amazing because there were dances. Parents were cheering for their children. The most cheering was for Salelei. My friends and I Laite, Keti and Jezebella did a dance for her. We are all in the same class.

My favourite part was when the Azonto was on. Azonto is my favourite song. They did dances just to say that Mrs B has been here for a long time. She did not realize that there will be some dances. The boys in in my class did a dance that involves the song Azonto. They had a lot of cheering because their one was so funny. In the end I had to present a book that all the classroom contributed.

Netbook Reflection 2013

My netbook is very important to my learning because I can comment on other people’s work and blog.  It is teaching me to be honest and be on the right site.

I really like using my netbook because it helps me write faster instead of writing on a piece of paper. I am now fast at writing because I type a lot on my netbook tool.

Using my netbook for my learning is very helpful because it is easier for my teacher to check it. It is helpful because I can look up on people’s work, blog and learning sites. I can also communicate with my teacher from home by email.

Thank you Manaiakalani Trust for paying for Maths Whizz for my class. It makes maths fun. It can make my life easier.

Basketball

Basketball is fun to play. Basketball is a good sport for boys and girls that wants to join in and build their mussels. It was awesome because you get to learn the skills that your coach have given you. It could be anywhere at school or overseas. Basketball can be at school because many students might want to learn about basketball. If you like basketball, I think that you will have a good life.

It was windy like a fan
Playing basketball outside
Tress moving around like a wave
Basketball was awesome because team versus team
Smelt like fresh air from heaven
Heaps of noise
Cheering for other team members

The people that sponsor us was the B.A.S.F.(http://www.basf.com/) We were so lucky. We had a great time there. It was awesome in the end because each person had a B.A.S.F bag. In it was a pencil, pen and a book. After that we hopped into the bus and came back to school.

Hope you all enjoy it.

Yay! Fireworks. My whole family wanted to do fireworks. So we went and brought fireworks. It cost $30 for a box. We went with it home. My dad had to light it then we can hold it. Our street did fireworks.  I loved the sparkles because it was colourful like a dress. Voni(my brother) wanted to start with the little ones. My favourite part is when I saw the colourful sparkles lighting up in our street. The funny bit was that the next-door across us, June sister Evelyn, she was scared because the sound went bomb bomb. She ran inside the house. I had a exciting night. I was very tired.

Maymo steals the cabbage.

Kia Ora everyone,
Would you think the dog Maymo will catch the cabbage?.. Well I think that he will because he is jumping every where trying to catch it because he likes to eat cabbage. He loves to eat cabbage because that's his favourite food to eat. When he was jumping everywhere trying to catch it, it fell on top of his head. Maymo did not know that the cabbage fell on top of his head. Maymo is a funny dog to keep because he is awesome and a proud dog.

Volcanic Area.

Yesterday morning Room 10 was excited because they had a trip to the Auckland Museum. In the museum there were many galleries.
When we went through the Maori galleries there were lots of windows full of old objects from the olden days. It was a very incredible time.
But the fun bit was that we went to the volcanic area. The volcanic area is dark but not as dark as a building with no lights on. In the volcanic area are rooms, rock and some volcano pictures. We had to go into a virtual sitting room and sit on the floor to watch the news. It was like a video to teach people what to do if there was a volcanic eruption happening in real life. In the room there were things like chairs, tables, tv and a big screen. When Room 10 sat down the tv was on and on the screen was a picture of Mission Bay. On the tv a lady announcer was speaking about the volcano going to erupt. It was scary because the noise was going louder and louder and louder because on the screen there was things coming across the Rangitoto Island.

Fraction Flag.

Today I have been on a site called fraction flag. The site fraction is a good site because you will learn your quarter, thirds and halves. Today I went onit and I did the halves. When it comes up it says you will need to do the quarters, thirds or the halves. I did the halves because I am learning about halves. If you want to try it out try it out and you will learn things important for you.

Telling the time.

Today I am very exciting because I have been on a site called telling the time. Telling the time is a good site to go on because on the site it has a timer for you and you will have to try and put the right time on the right clock. Well today I have been on the sit. When I pressed play I was so scared that my time will go 30 second or 24. Well when I was putting the times in the right order I was looking at the time. When it became to the end it was 8 second left I had one more left to do. When the last one was finish it was 9 second so I pressed stop the clock because all the time was in the right place. So today its exciting to me because I had 10 seconds. If you want to try it out go for it and you will know how to tell a time.

My ALIM work.

In this week ALIM I have learnt to solve problems grouping them into equals. I have learnt different kind of strategies. Like example: 4 groups of 3 is the same as 4x3=12. I hope that you enjoyed it and I hope you will learn something from it.

In week ten I am so proud of myself because when my ALIM teacher tested me she said that I am on stage 6. I am very proud of myself.

My Presentation this morning.

This morning is interesting. This morning each class will go to visit other classes. When classes are moving around they will learn interesting facts about different cultures. My class was one of them. I was not one of them because I stayed in class because I was doing a presentation of Niue to Room9.  When Room9 came into my class I had to talk to them. The first thing was that we had to stand up for the national anthem of Niue. When we finished singing the national anthem of Niue, I had to say my mihi and to talk about the uga(coconut crab). When all our presentation was done every one  had to watch a video clip about Niue. I really enjoyed it.

My Family Treasure Story.

My Taonga

My taonga is about my old teddy bear. My teddy bear was a present when I was 1 year old. My teacher gave it to me as a gift because I was one of the babies that first entered the church pre school. I am very excited because my family and I still have my present after nearly 11 years.

My taonga looks big and beautiful. It doesn’t do anything but it sits beautiful on a special basket in my room. My mum made a special place for it. If someone touches my teddy bear it makes a sound like a whistle. It feels smooth because the feather is soft and the colour of my taonga is black and white.
My taonga is special to me because it is a gift from my pre-school when I was one years old. The children and teachers gave it to me on my birthday and that's why it so special. Since then, my family and I still keep that taonga on a special place in my room and I will keep it until I get married.

This term Room10 is about to learn some culture's. For our culture we are learning about niue. We chose niue because in our class room there is a boy that is niue. It is fun to learn niue because  it is a great island and a good country. Room10 is still working and learning on it and they are just about to learn more and more about it. I hope that in someday you will learn different culture in your class room.

My name story.

My Name Story

Hi my name is Edwina F. My name was chosen on my dad’s side. I am named after my dad’s sister called Edwina. I asked my mum what my name means and she said it's a very nice seed that grows along the beach and the Tongan people use the seeds to make the Tongan oil. I was very lucky that I wasn’t going to be named after anyone because I really like my name a lot.

My name had to be called Edwina because my dad’s sister wasn’t named after anyone.  My sister Candice is named after my dad’s Aunty, my sister Angelica is named after my mum’s mum and Voni is named after my grandpa. I asked my mum why is Anglica named after her mum and she said because she named her. I am very excited because I have a great name and I really love it very, very, very much.

My soil report.

My soil report. Tuesday 3 April 2012

After studying soil for the last few weeks, We decided on question and the information we found out. Below are the question and the information we found out.

What is soil?

Soil is a mixture of sand, loam and clay that helps plants grow. Nutrients in the soil come from dead organic material such as dead bugs, dead leaves, roots and twigs and other organic material. Soil is the top layer of our Earth planet because if we lived without soil nothing would grow. Loam soil holds just the right amount of water and air to help plants grow.Did you know that! soil comes in different kind of rainbow rocks?

Why is soil important?

Soil is important because flowers, trees and plants need it so they can grow properly. Soil is very important for plants because they need the soil so they can stand straight. Soil is good for our Earth planet because if we lived without soil nothing will grow in our planet Earth.

Is soil a habitat?

Yes soil is a habitat because soil is a habitat for many species of insects and other invertebrates like beetles, ants, slugs, worms and cicadas.

How have people affected soil?

Humans affect soil by cutting down trees and grass that hold the soil altogether. This makes the soil get washed away when it rains. The pollutes the rivers and lakes and kills the fish and plants that live in them.
