Shopping for healthy muesli bars? Check this out if you want to know!

How could you choose the right muesli bar? When you buy a box of muesli bar from the super market, always check the labels. Always check the energy, protein, sugar and fibre to see if it is less or high. It is good to check it every time because muesli bars could be healthy or unhealthy. What I learnt from this muesli bar template is that you should always check the labels before you buy it.

Explanation Writing - Why is it important to have 8 hours of sleep?

I wonder why do we need 8 hours of sleep?
We need 8 hours of sleep because it gives your body a rest and it allows it to prepare for the next day. It is just like giving your body a mini-vacation or a break. Sleep also gives time for your brain to sort things out. Your brain can store a lot of information for the next day. During your sleep hours, the technic of your body changes around.

What happens if you don’t get a sleep?
Did you know skipping 1 night’s sleep makes a person cranky and clumsy. If you keep skipping nights without a sleep, your brain would have problems with thinking and doing things. His/her body and brain can’t do normal or daily tasks. Yet people do not get enough sleep and many suffer from lack of sleep.

Why do we need to sleep?
Some people need 8 hours of sleep. Other exist on four. We need to sleep because we might eat more and more during night. If you eat more at night, you’re gonna have trouble with your breathing. It is good to sleep around 8:00pm or 9:00pm. People might not like to sleep between those time because they want to watch tv or eat. Sleep is very important to us because our body and brains gets a rest and sets information for the next day.

Dear Mr Tamati

Kia Ora. I am writing this to say thank you for coming to Glenbrae School to talk to year about your career and how we could be like you .

What was interesting to me was when you talked about how you had a part time and that you wanted to be a builder. During the lesson you showed us about how you plan things like, where should it be build, the cost of it and other sort of things. Listening to you helped me because it gave me ideas about what you do  in a construction and helped me think about my future.

I really appreciate you giving up your time to come to Glenbrae School about career. Thank you very much.

Your sincerely

Mrs Ripata
Teacher

Dear Mrs Ripata

Malo E Lelei. I’m writing to say thank you for speaking to us about your family and your life.

It was a pleasure to hear you share your story. I found it really interesting when you talked about, every morning you would go to school with no lunch and you would ask your friends for money so you could buy you lunch. The other interesting thing I learned was that your mum would weave mats and sell them to people for money and your dad would work and sell things. I remembered when you said your life was hard because it was hard to get money and your family was so poor.

I really appreciate you giving your time to speak to year ⅞ about your life and your experience.

Yours sincerely

Edwina

Mr Dunn - Thank You Letter

This thank you letter is for Mr Dunn and his ex-student from Tamaki College because they came to talk about Tamaki College and their experience there.

Room 10
Glenbrae School

11 September 2014

Mr Dunn
Deputy Principal
Tamaki College

Dear Mr Dunn

Malo E Lelei. I am writing this to say a big thank you for coming to Glenbrae School with the other 4 other ex-students. When you told us how Tamaki College is an amazing school, I wanted to enrol there but I have already enrolled at three other schools.

Listening to the ex-students was very helpful for me. Learning about college and what they are doing at Tamaki College is very helpful. The part that I enjoyed listening to was when they talked about their trip to Wellington for a science fair.

Before you left with the ex-students during morning tea, I thought to myself, if I don’t get accepted to these three schools I will enrol to Tamaki College. I am scared because if I enrol, you might get very angry. Hahahaha! Once again thank very very much for coming.

Your sincerely

Edwina

How to make a sincere apology.

Screenshot from 2014-08-12 10:50:20.png

I am sorry for…
talking about you with others and I know that you are very upset about this.
This was wrong because...
I was not meant to talk about you and not meant to tell other people.
In the future I will…
I will promise and remember that I will not talk about you with others and will never ever hurt your feelings.
Will you forgive me…
For what I have done bad about you. I am very sorry.

Powhiri Ceremony!

Yay! Let’s celebrate the opening ceremony of our ECE (Early Childhood Education). It was really packed. Well today at Glenbrae School, we had people from Housing NZ, Tamaki Redevelopment, Media and Politician. This was the biggest part when Glenbrae student get to see the mayor of Auckland, Len Brown. We also had Dr. Nick Smith, the minister of conservation. Time for the karanga. Everyone was inside. Some of our students did the haka for them. When Len Brown walked past us after we did the haka, he said to us, Well done!

After that Matua Jim stood up and did a speech in Maori. When Matua Jim finished speaking, one of the members of board of trustees from our school, Mr Leona, stood and did a speech. Next it was time to sing. I had to lead it. I felt very nervous, very hot because it was my first time leading a song in front of a crowd. Although I was leading, it was very great to represent our school and being a proud leader to lead through. This was the best part. It was Len Brown turn to speak. He was very awesome and very laughable because he made us laugh and laugh. Although he was still speaking, he said to us that he will be singing Te Aroha. Dr. Nick Smith was laughing. So we started laughing. Finally it was Dr. Nick Smith turn to speak. He was just like Len Brown. While he was talking, he smiled and smiled until he finished his speech.

Next it was time to sing a Waiata. I keeped on looking at Mrs Raj because she tells me what waiata to do. She made me smile and laugh a lot because she says to make the note higher. I was trying to calm my nerves down. After all the speech and the waita, it was time to  do the hongi with Len Brown and the rest of the people that came along. It was very a pleasure to do the hongi because in our culture we never do these things. Until then we all had to gather next to the pools so Dr. Nick Smith and Len Brown could dig out sod turning from the grown. When they did that, Matuta Jim blessed the sod turning. Then we sang Te Aroha again. Len Brown enjoyed our singing and the song because he knew the song and he really loved the song.  Finally the powhiri was finished and done. The 8 leaders from Glenbrae School, including me were very exuberant to take a photo with Len Brown. Len Brown told his friends to join in the photo.  My friend Atelaite and I really really enjoyed that day. We both hope that Len Brown and Dr. Nick Smith comes back to our school.

Taekwondo

What is Taekwondo? Taekwondo is like boxing but in different ways. Since 9:00am we were busy doing taekwondo. Our instructor name was Yu. During our lesson, Yu showed us some action. We had to follow her. Next it was time to do some self defence. Yu said to us that we can not do this outside to anyone. Although we were very tired Yu just told us don’t give up. When she did the moves, she looked fascinated. After that it was time to play some games. Until then it was finished. I am looking forward for our next lesson because I enjoyed it.

Museum Reflection

Yahoo! It’s time to go and learn some information about volcano. When we were at the museum we had our own time table. We were in different groups and in different classes. I enjoyed my group because there were only little of us. It was time to go with the instructor Josh to learn about volcano. In the room, Josh splitted us into 3 groups. We each did a activity. Josh showed us a 3 news video and a presentation. What I learned from the volcano room is that Pukekawa is the grandpa of all volcano. I didn't know that it would be called the grandpa. Finally it was over. It was time to go back to school. When we drove back, I was thinking about a question for my inquiry learning. My inquiry question was has worldwide volcanic activity been increasing recently?

Midyear School Holidays!

Lets celebrate our 2 weeks school holidays!! During the mid year school holidays my family and I did our ice challenge. Ice challenge is something that people do for cancer. If you get nominated by any one then you will need to do it or donate any money to any cancer society. After you done that then you will need to nominate 5 people or more. I had to do my ice challenge because my aunty nominated me. I did my ice challenge and I donated $100 to my aunty that had cancer.

On my ice challenge day I had to get my four buckets ready. It was 3 buckets to tip on me and 1 for my leg to put in. It was time to do it. First I had to nominate my nominees. They were all from my church. They only had 24 hours to do it. I did it for my aunty and my cousin that had a hard time with cancer. While my uncle was tipping it, I was screaming and kept on running because it was cold and I felt like I was in a freezer. But that was only first bucket. When it came to my last bucket I said no because I couldn't stop running. My family was laughing at me but I didn't care. I had to try my best to do it so I did it.

Finally it was finished. I was so festive that it was all over. I had towels wrapped around me. My brother was mocking me so I said to him, wait for your one because its coming. That was the most awesome holiday ever!!

^ My Ice Challenge ^

Ice challenge is something to do with cancer. Our country NZ did it because we got nominated by America. When people do their ice challenge, they will need to nominate 5 people or more and they will get 24 hours or 48 hours to do it. If they don't they will need to donate money to any caner society.

I had to do mine because I got nominated by my aunty. Time to do my ice challenge!I had 4 buckets full of water and ice in it. I was really cold because it was windy and it was raining. While my uncle was tipping the ice and water, I started screaming and running because I felt that I was in a fridge. My family was laughing because I keep on running. After that I had to do my nominees. I did 7. It was all from my church. They had 24  hours to do it or donate any money they have to any cancer society. I enjoyed my ice challenge.
 Good Luck Everyone!

Illatration - Adeline Yen Mah

Today I was reading my favourite book. It is Chinese Cinderella. Chinese Cinderella is one of my favourite book because it is about a girl that gets bully by her step mother and her family does not care about her. Her name is Adeline Yen Mah. Adeline had 2 step brother and sister and 2 brothers. There were 5 of them. Adeline step mother will always hate her, growl her and will not give her anything to eat. She would always cry and cry.

I am looking forward to read the other pages.

Germany vs Argentina

Today I was very animated to watch Germany vs Argentina for the cup. I voted for Germany because my brother (Voni) voted for Argentina. While the game was still on, Voni was angry because he thought that the Argentina player will get the ball through to the net but it didn't. I was happy. When it came to half time it was still nil. It was time to play again. It was still nil. Time was running out. They had to get an extra time. It was Germany ball. All the Germany supporters were screaming because one of the Germany player got near the score net and he scored. I stood up and screamed and screamed out loud because they won. My brother was very angry. All the Argentina supporters and team players were crying. It was a tough game. I really enjoyed watching the games!!!..

❣ Good Bye Friends And Family Poems ❣

You helped me laugh
you dried my tears
because of you I have no fears
Together we live
together we grow
teaching each other what we must know

We all go through life with the love of friends and family
Even though we know they will all leave us eventually
Never knowing where the future might lead you
